About NextStep2Health

For as long as I can remember I have always been involved in fitness activities and played sport, representing school and county at several sports. After a few years working locally I decided to go into the British Army as a Physical Training Instructor and spent time training with Dame Kelly Holmes. Whilst serving I was picked to represent the Army Ski Team and officiated at many sporting events.

I left the forces in 1992 and started working in leisure management in Lincoln. I soon realised that I wanted to make my own choices and this meant working for myself and setting up my business Nextstep, teaching all types of fitness classes at various locations around the county. I still continue to teach a selection of classes and still have some original participants after 31 years.

I had always had a couple of ambitions in life, one to run the London marathon and another to become a Personal trainer. I qualified as a Personal trainer in 2005 and changed my business name to Nextstep2health. It wasn’t long after doing a few marathons I realised I wanted to learn more about my body and what it was capable of doing so entered my first ultra marathon (anything over 26.2 miles). Endure 24 (mixed pairs) Dave Cox and I finished first in 2013 and runners up in 2014 and 2015. T184 is an unsupported race 184 miles covering the whole of the Thames Path from London to Cirencester. This was undoubtedly my toughest race to date.  I secured 1st female and 5th overall the first time I ran this race, however in 2017 and again in 2019 I went on to win the T100 womens race. The London Marathon London 2016 was my 11th consecutive London Marathon and my first GFA. I also broke the vet ladies Gainsborough and Morton Striders 10k record in 2014. I have now run over 18 marathons and over 25 ultra marathons.

I still continue to update my skills and knowledge, I qualified as a Sports Therapist in 2010. I thoroughly enjoy my work both in the class environment and on the one-to-one side. Personal training for clients is rewarding and once they are ready to start to take on the commitments involved with the training, nutritional and lifestyle changes required to move towards their chosen goals.

I’ve been working with clients now for over 18 years. My biggest weight loss client stands at well over 10 stone. I’ve worked with clients with a whole range of conditions covering Heart Disease and Surgery, Strokes, Cancer, Depression including Bio-Polar, Arthritis, Parkinsons and Diabetes (Type 1 & Type 2). All my type 2 diabetics who have followed my lifestyle changes have placed their diabetes into remission. Fibromyalgia sufferers have benefited massively too. Maybe it’s just you want the old you back and to feel more confident in yourself again. As we age you realise you can’t put a price on health. Quality of life is so important . There really is always something that can be done to enhance ones life if they want it bad enough. I love my job and I’m passionate about helping others reach their dreams.

I have my own purpose built private studio for you to train privately and confidently within. I also offer a large outside training area, and we also get outdoors and make good use of the local parks and surrounding areas, providing you are happy to do this.
